How Mediterranean is the diet in Lebanon?


The ..... an important study.


The Mediterranean diet, rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, olive oil, fish, poultry and moderate consumption of wine, is renowned for its health benefits. As the world becomes global in all aspects of life including diet, changes have been reported in the way people consume food and the diets they follow, this is also true for the MENA region.

A study examined the Lebanese diet focusing on its Mediterranean character with the following aims: to propose an index for evaluating  adherence to a Middle Eastern version of the Mediterranean diet, to compare the Lebanese diet to selected European Mediterranean diets and to examine socio-demographic correlates of adherence to the Mediterranean diet among Lebanese adults
